  • Principal, Mani Ram Aggarwal :

    He had graduated in Mathematics (Honours) from F.C. College, Lahore in 1931. He first conceived the idea of commencing coaching for university and competitive examinations while still in college. He was a brilliant student having acquired third position in the university, but was facing financial constraints. He borrowed a pittance fromƒone of his friends in Village Alawalpur, Jalandhar (Punjab) and commenced his journey to Lahore in 1931. He had a distant vision with optimism unbounded to forge a new career for himself. For him work was worship. Success of the college in the initial stages depended on Mr. Aggarwal's hard work and his brilliant mathematics tuitions. Thousands of students flocked to attend his classes in maths.

    A number of distinguished old students including Marshal of Air Force Arjan Singh have often reminisced about their stay in the college and their tuitions in maths by Mr. Aggarwal.The college shifted to Delhi in the aftermath of the partition. Once again maths emerged as the strong point of the college. Eminent ex-students like Mahesh Kapoor, former Advisor, Planning Commission and Mahesh Khanna, former Chairman Balmer Lawrie, studied A and B course in maths from Mr. Aggarwal. They would always recall that Mr. Aggarwal was indeed a brilliant teacher of Mathematics and many of them owed success in the various competitive examinations to the innovative teaching methods adopted by him.

  • Dr. B.R. Puri (M.Sc) :

    Dr. Puri was a close friend of our founding Principal and a famous teacher of Chemistry. Students came from various regions to study Chemistry from him. Dr. Puri later became Head of the Department of Chemistry, Punjab University. He was a distinguished scientist and was consultant to a number of chemical firms. He died in 1984.

  • Prof. Sri Ram Kumar :

    Prof. Kumar was a teacher of Political Science and a life-long associate of Principal Aggarwal. Prof. Kumar, joined the Ramgarhia College, Phagwara in 1947 after Independence and maintained his close contact with the family of Mr. Aggarwal till his death.

  • Prof. P.S. Raman :

    He used to conduct classes for the Indian Civil Services examination in the 1930s, he was a close associate of Shri Mani Ram Aggarwal. In 1940, Prof. Raman managed to reach Singapore during the World War-11. He joined the Foreign Service of Singapore and became a close confidante of the Founder President Lee Kuan Yew. The latter appreciated & lauded the role played by Dr. Raman, when Singapore faced a crisis on its omission from the Malaysian Federation by the then President of Malaysia Tungku Abdur Rehman. Prof. Raman retired as Singapore's ambassador in USSR. His son also joined Singaporean Foreign Services.

  • Prof. J.L. Kachroo :

    He joined the College as a young man, at the age of 23 in 1948 and continued his association till 1989 when he died suddenly. Prof. Kachroo taught History specially to the Civil Services aspirants.

  • Prof. P.L. Soni :

    At the young age of 23, he joined S.N. Das Gupta College in 1945 and was a prominent teacher of Chemistry. In 1947 on migration to India, he joined Hans Raj College and distinguished himself in teaching this subject. He also authored numerous books on Chemistry. He had also taught The Present Principal in 1948

  • Prof. Nirmal Chander and Prof. Roshan Lai :

    The two used to conduct classes for Punjab Matric examinations both in Lahore and later in New Delhi. Prof. Roshan Lai had a distinction of teaching every member of Mr. Mani Ram Aggarwal's family including Ajodhya Parshad, Jagan Nath, Chiranji Lai, Krishan Mohan, Ved Brat and Kaushalya Devi. He had a very simple style of living, but was brilliant in his subjects.

  • Prof. N.N. Malhotra :

    A close associate of Shri Aggarwal. He joined the institution in 1939 and retired in 1991, on account of his failing health. He shifted to the United States to join his four sons settled there and expired there in May 2005. Mr. Malhotra was Vice Principal, S.N. Das Gupta College from 1939 till his retirement in 1991. The Golden Jubilee of Prof. Malhotra's association with the College was celebrated in 1991 and Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh, former Lt. Governor of Delhi honoured Prof. Malhotra on completion of his 50 years of association with the College. One cannot recollect any other similar association lasting over a period of 50 years in private service.

  • Prof. Dev Dutt:

    He joined the College in 1953 and initially taught English to the undergraduate classes but recognizing his potential as a speaker and his erudition, Principal Aggarwal handed over the Civil Services classes to him especially for English Essay and General English. Prof. Dev Dutt continued teaching in the College till 1995 when he decided to concentrate on his career in Journalism. Prof. Dev Dutt has been a brilliant organiser, speaker and a political analyst & a dramatist.

  • Dr. Ravi Chopra :

    He joined the College in 1953 and initially taught English to the undergraduate classes but recognizing his potential as a speaker and his erudition, Principal Aggarwal handed over the Civil Services classes to him especially for English Essay and General English. Prof. Dev Dutt continued teaching in the College till 1995 when he decided to concentrate on his career in Journalism. Prof. Dev Dutt has been a brilliant organiser, speaker and a political analyst & a dramatist.
